POSITION
DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION, CLUSTER V
Description
Cluster V Special Education Cooperative represents and provides special education and dyslexia services to Brackett ISD, D'Hanis ISD, Knippa ISD, Leakey ISD, Nueces Canyon CISD, Sabinal ISD, and Utopia ISD; and ancillary services to Comstock ISD and La Pryor ISD Collectively, the seven member districts have a total enrollment of approximately 4700 students. While each member District is unique, they all have one commonality; they are small-rural schools. Sabinal ISD serves as the fiscal agent, as well as the office site of the Cluster V. Dependent on level of education, licensure and years of experience in public education: $85,000-$98,000.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of federal and state special education law
Knowledge of student services for dyslexia and its regulatory requirements
Understanding of the individual needs of special needs students
Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students and their parents
Ability to coordinate with Cluster V staff and with member Districts teachers and administration for special education and dyslexia services
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret assessment data
Ability to develop and manage the Cluster V budget and related financial matters
Ability to recruit, hire, induct and evaluate all assigned staff
Possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications
Education
and
Experience
Master's degree in Education Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction or related field- required
Valid Principal, Mid-Management or Supervisor certificate- required
Valid Texas Educator certificate- required
5-years teaching experience- required
Experience in special education, required
Administrative or Director experience, required
Experience in small/rural school environment, preferred
Ability to travel frequently within coop, statewide as needed- required
